Sunnybrae will be hosting it’s school track and field day on Thursday, May 24th There is an opportunity for students in grades 4-8 to purchase a hot lunch on these days. We will be sending home a pre-order form this week for these students:

Please note that we will NOT be INCLUDING PRIMARY STUDENTS in the purchasing of food items during track and field days. Our experience is that some of the students do not eat some of the food items and it is also disruptive to instructional time as it takes quite a while collecting money, etc. for these days.

The following will be available for the JUNIOR/ INTERMEDIATE students to purchase:

Barbecued Hot Dogs $ 1.25

Hamburgers $ 2.00

Water and Juice $ 1.00

Potato Chips $ 1.00

Jumbo Freezies $ .50

We will be sending a pre-order form home this week so that students can pre-order their food and so that we know how much to prepare!

Pitch in Date is Monday, May 7^th – rain date May 8^th

Calling all brick layers and handypersons!  We have a job for you!

Sunnybrae’s Speak Up student group applied for a government grant of $950.00 earlier in the Fall, requesting the money to make school improvements that would allow for some new clubs to form. The Ontario government sent us a letter in return approving our request!

Now that we have the money, we are re-doing our courtyard.  We are cleaning it, and putting in benches and flowers.

We are looking for a brick layer to donate time and help us replace some bricks that support the old school bell.

We also would like someone who is willing to operate their skill saw to cut the wood for our benches to the right length for us to build them.

Please take advantage of a new reading resource for students from kindergarten to grade 3.

The Ministry of Education has purchased an annual subscription to Scholastic’s BookFLIX. It is an interactive online literacy website with some great books for reading. It is divided into a number of themes that match fiction storybooks with non-fiction books. It requires a user name and password that can be accessed by putting your cursor over the link located on the left side column of the website.

We heard lots of wonderful feedback regarding last year’s BBQ.

More information will come as we get closer to the BBQ but we wanted to make sure that you reserved this night for the BBQ.

We will be holding a gift basket draw again this year but are also looking for any large items that we can put into a silent auction. If you have a connection with a company who would be willing to donate something for our silent auction we would love to hear from you.

We will also be looking for lots of volunteers to help with the many jobs that are needed to run the BBQ.
